I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the Diocese as Mission and Renewal Advisor. After 15 years in Parish ministry, I am looking forward to the new challenge of encouraging all the Parishes in their growth and development.
I was converted from a non-Christian home at 17. After graduating in agriculture I served a brief time in mission in Pakistan. I was then an agricultural advisor for seven years before Trinity College, Bristol. I served my Curacy in All Saints, Lindfield. For the last 10 years I have been Vicar of Rudgwick where God has been good and we have seen substantial growth. For a time I was also Archdeaconry Warden of Readers before becoming Rural Dean of Horsham 5 years ago. My heart is to see people so enthused about their relationship with Jesus that sharing Him with others is neither a duty nor a chore. It is my firm conviction that every type of Church can grow, be they Evangelical or Catholic, stale or fresh expression, as long as people are full of faith and the Spirit. I am pathologically averse to elevating doubt to a virtue, denial about the realities of where we are, anodyne politeness and talking in a Vicar's voice.
My hope and prayer is that the Mission and Renewal department can become a powerful resource to help enable growth and passion in the Diocese. Initially, I look forward to a lot of listening in order to see how we might best do that.
